Jolla Phone 2026
Jolla, the company that develops the Sailfish operating system, recently released its new 2026 Jolla Phone. Sailfish is a Linux-based operating system, so this automatically piqued our interest.
Specifications
The new Jolla Phone is available in two models: 8GB RAM/128GB Storage and 12GB RAM/256GB Storage. The rest of the specs are as follows:

The Jolla Phone is assembled in Finland, and its main claim to fame is privacy first. They also designed the phone to be easily repairable and provide 5 years of support for their Sailfish operating system. The phone is priced at 649,00 € for the 8G RAM version and 749,00 € for the 12GB RAM version.

Sailfish OS supports Android apps, so you shouldn't have any issues getting your favourite apps up and running. There's a physical privacy switch on the phone that can be configured to switch on/off WiFi, Bluetooth, specific Android apps, etc that we wish was on other phones.
Final thoughts
We like the idea of the Jolla Phone and understand Jolla's vision in producing a device that is privacy-focused in both hardware and software. The phone itself may not be cutting edge, but we think that this is offset by the unique operating system and hardware features that promise a good balance between getting the functions you need in a phone versus keeping your personal information as private as possible.
The Jolla Phone is one of only a handful of privacy-focused devices available, but this also shows that there is a need for this. Hopefully we will start seeing more and more of this type of device in the near future.
